Marilyn joined the Board on 1 January 2023 and is our lead on safeguarding, and will contribute to our equality, diversity and inclusion development across the Club as well as widening participation in cricket at grassroots through Middlesex in the Community.
An educationalist at heart, Marilyn has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to furthering the values and principles of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) through undertaking key leadership and governance roles in education, health and community development. As well as working in schools, local authorities and, more recently, a multi-academy trust, Marilyn has developed and led two successful major government programmes on behalf of the DfE and DH - the National Healthy Schools Programme and the National Strategies' Behaviour and Attendance - school improvement programme. Both programmes focused on translating often contentious national policy into effective local practice - and featured a strong emphasis on partnership working and professional development.
Marilyn is currently Chair of Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) and, in this context, works closely with the Football Association (FA), Premier League Charitable Fund (PLCF) and English Football League Trust (EFLT) and other Trusts and Foundations. CACT was recently awarded the exemplary standard under the EFLT Capability Code of Practice 2022, which included meeting challenging criteria on leadership, governance, the quality of service user provision, EDI and safeguarding. With a keen interest in a range of sports, Marilyn is a passionate Charlton Athletic fan and also a Middlesex Cricket member, having supported Middlesex since her childhood. This interest extends to active engagement - Marilyn is proud to have run the London Marathon on five occasions, raising funds for charity including UNICEF and OXFAM. |
