Biography

Marilyn grew up in Colchester, Essex. There was no opportunity for girls to play cricket in North Essex in those days, so she was unable to play the game until she went to University.

She played cricket for Middlesex Ladies for ten years, as captain for three of those. She played club cricket for Dukesmead WCC in Chiswick for many years and currently plays for Shepherd's Bush Women.

She is a member of Middlesex ACO, and scores for Shepherd's Bush CC and MCC.

She has been involved in cricket governance in Middlesex for 25 years. As Chair of Middlesex Women’s Cricket Association (WCA) she worked with the English Cricket Board (ECB) to merge the national WCA with ECB. She also worked with the men’s recreational game to form the Middlesex Cricket Board. She sat on the MCB as the women’s representative and chaired the Facilities Sub Committee.

She played in the augural MCC ladies match in 1999, then sat on the Women’s Sub Committee of MCC for ten years. She still plays for MCC ladies and this year became the only woman to play 200 matches for MCC Ladies.

Marilyn is a town planner by profession. She has always worked in local authority planning departments in London, starting in Hillingdon, then Chief Planning Officer at London Borough of Hounslow, and is currently working for London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.

Marilyn is an MCC Playing Member.
